A Different Way to Procure Energy

Purchase the power. Not the infrastructure.

For many businesses, the question is no longer whether onsite solar works.

The question is whether deploying capital into owning energy infrastructure is the best use of that capital. A Power Purchase Agreement provides an alternative.

Under a SolarTech-structured PPA, a renewable energy system is developed and funded for the customer’s site. The customer purchases the electricity generated by the system at an agreed price under a long-term contract rather than paying the capital cost of the installation upfront.

The remaining electricity required by the business continues to be supplied through its existing grid electricity arrangements.

The capital required for an approved project is arranged through the SolarTech platform, subject to project underwriting and final investment approval.

No Upfront Project Capital

The commercial terms establish an agreed price mechanism for electricity generated by the onsite system, providing greater visibility over a portion of the customer’s future energy costs.

Predictable Onsite Energy Pricing

Operations, monitoring and maintenance responsibilities are incorporated into the project structure so that the customer is not left managing a solar asset independently.

Long-Term Asset Management

Electricity is generated directly at the customer’s premises, helping reduce reliance on grid-supplied electricity and supporting corporate decarbonisation objectives.

A simple commercial structure

The solar infrastructure is funded through the appropriate project structure rather than being purchased upfront by the customer.

Capital may be deployed through a dedicated project company, SolarTech investment structure or approved funding partner, depending on the individual project.

01 Project Capital

Solar PV — and where commercially appropriate, battery storage — is installed at the customer’s premises.

The system is designed around the site, consumption profile and underlying project economics.

02 Onsite Generation

The customer enters into a long-term agreement to purchase electricity generated by the onsite system at the agreed PPA tariff.

03 Power Purchase Agreement

The onsite system does not replace the customer’s normal electricity supplier.

Solar generation supplies part of the site's demand, while any additional electricity required continues to be purchased through the customer's existing electricity supply arrangements.

04 Grid Supply Continues

The asset is monitored and maintained throughout the agreed operating period in accordance with the project contracts.

05 Performance & Lifecycle Management

The treatment of the system at the end of the PPA — including any transfer, purchase, extension or other agreed option — is established clearly within the project documentation.

06 End of Term

Bring strong commercial projects to SolarTech

SolarTech works with solar installers, EPC contractors, energy consultants and introducers that originate commercial energy opportunities.

Partners can introduce qualifying projects to the SolarTech platform for PPA assessment, commercial structuring and funding consideration.

Where appropriate and subject to approval, the originating EPC or installation partner may remain involved in project delivery.
